La Zagaleta Group, owner of Europe’s most exclusive residential development by the same name, has recently acquired the famous Valderrama golf course, host of the Ryder Cup and the Volvo Masters, for around 40 million euros.  The group plans on developing its latest project: Valderrama II, replicating the unique experience of La Zagaleta in Benahavis. Having all the necessary licences in place, the new project will cover 220 hectares in the Castellar area in Cadiz, and will consist of a “Championship” golf course as well as a residential and touristic resort and hotel, costing around 240 million euros over the next 10 years.

Thanks to the prestige, exclusivity and security it offers, La Zagaleta is renowned for being home to the rich and famous whose identities are usually kept very confidential. It goes without saying that La Zagaleta Group will try to implement the same standards in Valderrama II,  but to what extent will they be able to do so, taking into consideration the touristic facilities they’re offering, only time will tell.

A project of the caliber of Valderrama II is a great indication that the real estate market in southern Spain is recovering and can only do better over the coming years. Such project means huge boost to the Spanish economy, thanks to the creation of direct and indirect jobs and the international investments it will attract. For this reason, various neighboring municipalities on the Costa del Sol are watching with great interest to see how this project will develop, and few will try to attract similar ventures especially that the luxury market is picking up massively in this part of world.
